After announcing your favourite picks of 2017 Playism games, it is time for the Playism team to share their own thoughts of Playism in 2017!
Favourite Playism game in 2017
Mizutani
I don’t tend to pick games I like in a year. But this year, I really appreciated VA-11 Hall-A.
For Tokyo Game Show 2 or 3 years ago, we helped out with the demo of the game, I actually thought it was kind of amazing how the stories were told through this style. I was tremendously surprised to see such an amiable story; even though it was set in 207X, even though it was SciFi, even though it was Cyber Punk.
Even though nothing big happens within it, I think it was so amazing that it remained in my heart.

I was involved in a lot of the localization this time, but I would say I like Detention and 2064: Read Only Memories.

I feel like we released a lot of horror games in 2017, a genre that I’m really not good with. However, 1bitHeart really stands out to me. There was something charming and heartwarming about going around this adorably drawn town, and making all these unique friends.

Favourite Moments of 2017

It’s not really related to Playism, but at the end of Tokyo Game Show, I went out with Swery, just the two of us. Even though it was an after party, I really enjoyed it. I was able to really sit down with him and talk about all sorts of things. He truly is a monk….

I didn’t get to go to Tokyo Game Show in 2017, but I did get to take part in PAX West for the first time. I honestly enjoyed feeling the “fever” of the overseas fans at game events.

I think I would have two favourite moments from 2017. At PAX West, after all the visitors would leave, many of us would tidy up and then relax together. Our booth location put us right next to a lot of our friends and business partners, so the atmosphere during the event just felt great.
The other would be managing the VA-11 Hall-A booth at Tokyo Game Show, there was this moment were people were lining up for 120 minutes to play the game!!

I have two.
VA-11 Hall-A winning the Famitsu Best Indie Game Award at the Tokyo Game Show.
And also visiting the real-life shooing locations of Twin Peaks with Suda51 during PAX West.

Where our emergency translation notes for Hacknet at Tokyo Game Snow was mistaken as actual top secret instructions by the booth next door.

At Tokyo Game Show, I was helping out on the VA-11 Hall-A booth on the business days. While I was there, Mafia Kajita (famous Japanese game writer) came by.
