Dear Esther: Landmark Edition on Playism

Dear Esther has been a solid title on the Playism store for quite a while now.  But we have had to take it down and replace it recently, as Dear Esther: Landmark Edition has been released.

The game that created a new genre

Dear Esther is often explained as a casual / adventure indie game, but is more accurately portrayed as a walking simulator. You find yourself on a stunningly realized island, with little explanation. As you stand on the end of a half-submerged jetty, you find yourself exploring the eerily deserted island.

As you find key points throughout the island, the story, or rather, fragments of the story, is revealed to you. Abandoning traditional gameplay for a pure story-driven experience, Dear Esther fuses its beautiful environments with a breathtaking soundtrack to tell a powerful story of love, loss, guilt and redemption.
Each fragment of the story; each section of the island; each one leads you to search for the truth behind what had happened. What is the significance of the aerial -- What happened on the motorway -- is the island real or imagined -- who is Esther and why has she chosen to summon you here?

The answers are out there, perhaps.
The Landmark Edition of Dear Esther brings the whole game to the Unity engine, upgrading all the visuals and fully remastering the audio. In addition to making a stunning story more immersive, a brand new Directors’ Commentary mode has been added, allowing player to explore the island and learn what inspired the game and how it was crafted by The Chinese Room and Rob Briscoe.

Features:

  • Every play-through a unique experience, with randomly generated audio, visuals and events.
  • Explore incredible environments that fully immerse you in the haunting island and its mysterious past.
  • A poetic, semi-randomized story like you've never experienced in a game before.
  • Stunning soundtrack composed by Jessica Curry, featuring world-class musicians.
  • An uncompromisingly inventive game delivered to the highest AAA standards.

For those of you who already own Dear Esther on Playism, head to your Game Library, as you will now find the updated Landmark Edition, as well as a Steam Key.
