Story

"I remember how surprised I was when I first saw this case.
Everyone involved was lying, for one reason or another."

On February 5, 2012, the police were notified of a little girl by the name of Seowon going missing from a nearby playground. Even after an extensive investigation that involved questioning all persons of interest, the police were never able to solve the case.

Twelve years on, Jeon Gyeong, a retired police detective who was on Seowon’s case, was paid a visit by a young police officer who pleaded with her to revisit the case. As Jeon Gyeong retraces the past and more old memories are recovered, a shocking revelation becomes clear: everyone connected to Seowon’s case was lying.

Awards & Accolades

◆ BitSummit Drift - Excellence in Game Design Award (Winner)
Judges’ Comment:
The lack of interactive elements in a linear story, where story development and ending are difficult to affect without significant intervention, is an issue often encountered in video games. Where many have failed before it, No Case Should Remain Unsolved successfully navigates the issue through clever game design and structuring, presenting a largely linear story in an engaging and interactive manner for the players. No Case Should Remain Unsolved could well serve to be a significant achievement and milestone for game design concepts moving forward.

◆ A MAZE./Berlin - Most Amazing Game Award
Judges’ Comment:
When most of the industry is focused on cutting-edge graphics and resource-intensive technologies, this game has the intelligence to offer a concept that could have been made 30 years ago but never was. Presented as a police investigation through a sober evidence board, it gradually transforms into a private diary. It is through its characters, so well-written they seem real, that we piece together the fragments of our blurred memory, racking our brains in order to rediscover and experience the heartbreaking truth. The winner of the Most Amazing Award is: Somi with No Case Should Remain Unsolved.

◆ BIC Festival 2024 - Jury Prize (Winner) & Excellence in Social Impact (Winner)
