Physics-based Grapplevania, Rusted Moss is coming to consoles in Spring 2024!

PLAYISM is proud to announce that Rusted Moss, a grappling hook based metroidvania game made by faxdoc, happysquared, and sunnydaze, is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation®5,and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2024!

For Steam Users:

The major content update is currently in the works. In our previous roadmap announcement, we've revealed that the major content update would be released Early to Mid Q4 but due to development and porting adjustments, we are pushing the major content update back and releasing it on Steam alongside the console release next Spring. We sincerely apologize to those who have been waiting for the final major update, and we kindly ask for your patience.

What you can expect from the major update:
● 2 new areas
● 7-8 hours of additional content
● 300+ new rooms
● Boss Rush Mode
● Maya Mode(Play through the game as Maya after you beat her the first time. Speedrun mode rules apply so there are no new dialogues or endings but you'll be introduced to some nifty new ways to play!)

About the Console Version:

The console version of the game will include the major content update for PC and other updates released to date (excluding the Level Editor Update).

*The Rusted Moss Level Editor allows you to create your own original stages with a wide assortment of tiles, terrain, gimmicks and more! You can also upload them using Steam Workshop and play levels created by other players. This feature is exclusively available on Steam.

Message from the Developers:

"Hey everybody!

We've been working hard on the major (and final) content update of Rusted Moss. While Rusted Moss will not have a sequel, it sometimes feels like this major content update might as well be one! And as you can see, we have probably enjoyed making this update a little too much and will need more time to add in and polish all these new features. On the plus side, this also coincides with some exciting news, that being the console release! Thank you all for your patience and support!"

About Rusted Moss

Swing Through the Stages with your Grapple Hook

This metroidvania utilizes your grapple and weapons with a full 360°aiming system. The freedom created by these controls creates a smooth experience for users to feel in complete control of their character. Find creative solutions to flexible traversal challenges, and blast away witches and machinery with precise aiming.

A "Grapple Hook" You Say?

The grappling hook is hard to learn yet rewarding to master. This unique physics-based elastic grappling hook uses your kinetic momentum to propel your character forward. Like rock climbing, there's no set path through this melancholic abandoned wasteland. Latch onto any moss-covered structure and swing your way through this rugged terrain.

Shotgun Blasts, Precision Shots, Rocket Jumps!

No more aiming in just 8 directions. As a twin-stick shooter, Rusted Moss emphasizes tight and precise gunplay. Quickly switch between your arsenal of weapons to best suit your playstyle and situation. Get up close and personal with a shotgun before grappling away and pulling out a sniper for the killing blow.

Boss Fights!

Push your gunplay and grappling hook skills to their limits! From powerful witches to machine monstrocities, each boss fight throws its own unique challenge at you. Dodge swords, avoid energy fields, and blast away at conjured spiders.
